How To Create An Amazon Seller Account

Amazon has over 300 million active users. Its widespread popularity gives business owners and digital entrepreneurs incredible passive income opportunities. Globally, 63% of shoppers began their shopping on Amazon. Many of these shoppers became Amazon customers. The onus is on modern entrepreneurs to take advantage of the opportunities staring them in the face. That is why you should know how to create an Amazon seller account.

What to Do Before Creating an Amazon Seller Account?

To start enjoying the benefits of e-commerce stores and Amazon services, you must set up your store. Fortunately, Amazon has made creating a seller account simple. However, there are certain things you need to know before diving into creating an account. Below is a list of things you should check before setting up an account.

  • Name for your store

  • What type of store? (Sole proprietorship or Limited Liability Company - LLC)

  • What are you selling?

  • What business model? (Private Label, Wholesale, Arbitrage, Dropshipping, or Handmade)

  • How are you sourcing your product?

Applying to become an Amazon Seller

After verifying all your other documents, you can create an Amazon seller account. We have simplified the process for you in the steps highlighted below.

1. Launch the Amazon Seller Sign Up Page. You can go to the seller page through many paths. The most straightforward one is going directly to the Sell products on Amazon page. Alternatively, you can click the link at the bottom of an Amazon page or the home page.

2. After using the Amazon Seller Link, you will come to the Become an Amazon seller page.

3. Click on Learn more beside Sign up or Pricing at the top of the screen.

4. After clicking on Learn more, select Pricing. Among the pricing options, pick Compare selling plans.

*Note: Instead of using the Sign up button, this method will allow you to choose between individual and professional accounts. Whereas Sign up automates your account registration as that of a professional. If you start with an individual account – selling only 40 units of product per month, you can still upgrade the account.

5. The next step is to enter your email address and password. However, you can create a new account, generate a one-time password (OTP), and verify your email address.

6. Now, fill in the following three categories of business information. The first is business location or country of residence. Secondly, you need to choose from the five business types: state-owned, publicly listed, privately-owned, charity or individual business. Lastly, fill in your name. Complete this step by clicking on Agree and continue after going through the terms and conditions of selling on Amazon.

7. Continue the process by including your personal information. This information includes proof of identity, date of birth, contact details, etc.

8. Go ahead to select where you want your products to be sold. Amazon has different marketplaces like North America, Canada, the UK, etc.

9. Include your billing information which are bank account and credit card details. You must verify your bank details with a bank statement or online credentials.

10. This stage of creating an Amazon seller account is where you include answers about the product you want to sell and the Amazon store. The question will confirm if you are a manufacturer or brand owner.

11. The last stage is to verify your location. Amazon will mail a postcard containing the code to complete the registration to you. The process may take up to seven days. After the location verification, you can use the Amazon Seller app or visit Amazon Seller Central to start selling on amazon. You will need to customize your seller page and include two-factor verification.
